The Current Making Challenge

While the majority of my work is bespoke furniture, I particularly like making handmade cabinets, I’m currently involved in making a jewellery box.

The internal trays have been fairly fiddly, requiring several different techniques for joint making as well as 1/10th of a millimetre precision. the small sections are about 3cm square

Lovely felt from Zero Waste, Moretonhampstead

The bottom of two of the trays will have some beautiful felt from the Zero waste shop in Moretonhampstead.

The main box

The main box is made from elm -a beautiful varied wood

Burr elm top, with walnut line

The top is burr elm veneer bordered with walnut stringing – hand made at 1.5mm width
